My husband and I have written an open letter to our fellow California citizens, urging them to vote NO on Prop 8. In it, we explain what marriage means to us, what legal recognition of our marriage means to us, and what legal recognition of our marriage means to others.

I'm not Californian but I'm proud to count myself among your friends. You don't need legal status to enjoy the good times in a marriage - nothing prevents you from going on vacation, starting a family, having quiet dinners. The truest test of marriage is what happens when the bad times come - health, money, and legal issues. Proposition 8 would DENY legal status to couples trying to deal with the bad times - why legislate
such basic, human caring?
Mr. Chaiwat, I don't think you understand gay people very well, nor have you really tried to imagine what it is like to walk in our shoes. I encourage you to read this blog post where I discuss the moral dimensions of the choices I have made in my life.
